DIY: the Tribal Side Pony

This side-swiped and twisted style echoes the romanticism of the seventies with an edge. With a few minutes and styling tools, give your medium to long hair a fresh jive.

Start when your hair has its most texture and tip your head to the side, cascading your locks to one side. Backcomb the top root of the hair for added texture and body.

To create a better grip for the bobby pins, consider hand-applying salt spray like this Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray to the roots and backcomb again.

Start twisting the top section across the top of your head and away from your face, feeding the hair in as you twist. Secure at the side nape of your neck with an elastic.

Secure an elastic at equal spaces along the length of your side pony tail leaving room to gently fluff and pull shape into each space with your fingers. Adorn your Tribal Side Pony style with a headpiece like this flower crown made by my talented friend Allison at Flower Crown Society. Shop flower crowns HERE.

Dress it up or go casual. What outfit would you wear with your tribal side ponytail? Campers, we want to see your style photos. Post to Instagram #campmakery, #tribalsidepony.
